SCRAP ATOS & THE WCA – SATURDAY 28.9.2013 – PARLIAMENT SQUARE, LONDON

REMEMBERANCE SPEECH – 28.09.2013

As we gather here on this day, let us not forget the ones who have gone before us, the people who have died as a result of this cruel, inhumane and despicable government. Let us not forget that it is the intention of this government to silence those who are vulnerable, especially the sick, disabled as well as the unemployed.

We have all heard the horror stories of people being pushed to breaking point and beyond by this government and many have paid the ultimate sacrifice, that of giving their lives and it is for this reason that we gather here today to remember them with respect and dignity.

We are also here to remember the ones who are still suffering the onslaught of benefit cuts that were instigated by this government and are still ongoing to this day! We cannot and must not let them grind us down into the ground so that they can walk all over us.

According to the Universal Declaration of Human rights, we have certain inalienable rights. It is about time we started using them.

This government will not be in power forever, no matter what other people may try and tell you.

In 2015, a new government will take power away from this one and hopefully together we can rebuild this shattered country.

As V said in the film V for Vendetta “PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID OF THE GOVERNMENT, THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE AFRAID OF THE PEOPLE!”
